New Jersey City's Sneaker Room and Kyrie Irving are ringing in the new year with a brand new Sneaker Room x Nike Kyrie 7 "I Love You Mom" capsule that draws inspiration from Mother Earth. This is the fourth occasion that these two parties have linked up together, all of which stem from Sneaker Room founder Suraj Kaufman and the NBA point guard's shared bond over their mothers passing at an early age.
For this project, a duo of mismatching colorways have come into fruition, and each individual shoe comes styled with vivid colors and marked with an illustrated icon on the heels to overtly communicate the elements of earth, air, water and fire. Additionally, the Swooshes all come adorned with all-over heart icons to speak to the "I Love You Mom" motif.
“This year, we wanted to take it to another level,” stated Kaufman, the founder of Sneaker Room, in an exclusive interview with Boardroom. “Kyrie, being part Native American and doing so much with Standing Rock, the tribe that his mom belonged to – we were talking about mothers and how we come to be: Mother Nature. Mother Earth. Let’s touch that aspect, and not be so symbolic of just a red heart, or using gold if that’s what you’d give as a gift. Let’s touch the elements.”
Both pairs are slated to drop via Sneaker Room next week with 1,996 pairs of the green and yellow offering being priced at $175 USD and 525 pairs of the blue and orange version retailing for $250 USD.
In other news, the Nike Air More Uptempo "Rough Green" has been revealed.
